Altitude Training Takes You To New Heights

Summit Peaks Altitude Training, Athletics & Weight Loss, welcomes it’s first members in 2024, in Oakville, Ontario.

The inspiration for Summit Peaks came from Ema Dantas, a mountaineer, who in less than 5 years climbed and summitted both versions of the 7 Summits of the World including Everest.

A skeptic of the benefits of altitude training, she became a believer as she climbed, mountain after mountain. When she was training for her 2nd and final attempt of Everest in 2021-2022, she started incorporating altitude training as part of her routine at home. The results, physically, mentally, and with her general health, were so incredible! The skeptic became a spokesperson for this amazing training. Ema decided the best way to share this experience was to open Summit Peaks Altitude Training. She wanted to provide the space and coaching to anyone who wanted to achieve the best version of their physical and mental health and also excel in their chosen sports.

About the Owner

Ema Dantas

Mountaineer

Ema knew her goal to complete the 7 summits of the world would be hard but attempting to complete the final mountain summit of Everest, after a failed attempt, took even more courage and perseverance than she thought she could muster.

But she did.

On May 13, 2022, she stood on the top of Mount Everest, completing her goal of climbing the 7 Summits of the world, both Bass (Richard Daniel “Dick” Bass) and Messner (Reinhold Andreas Messner) versions. The two versions of this incredible list included 8 summits. In less than 5 years, Ema did just that! She is one of only 124 Canadians and the 1st Portuguese-Canadian person to have done so.

Ema has also run 3 Full Marathons, 8 half marathons, and countless smaller races. Ema’s experience in real-life physical fitness – which started in her 40s when she adopted a healthier lifestyle – has changed her life.

Now she teaches and inspires all clients to achieve their own physical and health goals.

Ema is the Founder, CEO and Head Coach of Summit Peaks Altitude Training. She is also the Founder and Chair of Peaks for Change Foundation, a charity started to end the stigma surrounding mental health.

Our Team

Tyler Stone

Director of Strength & Conditioning

Tyler personally trained Ema during 6 of the 8 Summits she climbed. He holds a Master of Fitness Science, a Bachelor of Applied Science Kinesiology, and a Diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion. He is a Certified Exercise Physiologist by the Health and Fitness Federation of Canada. He is also a PNOE Metabolic Specialist, a Performance Enhancement Specialist, and a Fitness Nutrition Specialist from the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

In addition, he also holds a Pain Free Performance Specialization Certification. We are happy to have such a talented team member on the Summit Peaks Altitude Training team.

Nicolas Fernandez

Coach Training Advisor

Nicolas is our Sports Team, Coach, and Training Advisor. He understands the benefits of different types of training to excel at your chosen sport. His experience in playing soccer abroad, his love for the game, and his experience coaching at the Bolton Wanderers Soccer Club and the Brampton Youth Soccer Club, make him an excellent choice for sports teams looking for a way to accelerate their athletes’ performance.

You don’t have to be a soccer player to take advantage of his skills and his ability to help teams of all levels and disciplines achieve their goals.

Katie Loiacono

Sports Nutrition

With over five years of experience in sports nutrition, Katie possesses a deep understanding of how diet influences athletic performance and overall health. As a Certified Personal Trainer and a holder of a 200-hour yoga certification, she promotes a well-rounded fitness regimen that includes strength, flexibility, and mindfulness.

Katie’s love for fitness began with her passion for basketball, which she played competitively until the age of 18. This background taught her the values of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance.

Katie is known for her compassionate approach, taking the time to understand each client’s individual needs and goals. She enjoys being a “guinea pig” in the gym, constantly testing new techniques and workouts to deliver the most effective and innovative training programs.

Whether your aim is to build strength, improve flexibility, or achieve specific fitness objectives, Katie is committed to providing guidance and support every step of the way.

Azeez Al-Shaikhli

Trainer

Azeez Al-Shaikhli is a dedicated trainer with a B.Sc. Honours in Kinesiology from McMaster University. He brings extensive experience in strength and conditioning training, having worked with varsity teams at McMaster across a range of sports including soccer, skiing, baseball, cross country/track, and rugby.

As a competitive national-level powerlifter, Azeez offers a unique perspective on fitness and athletic training.

His diverse background spans both gym settings and physiotherapy clinics, enabling him to assist individuals of all fitness levels in improving their movement, performance, and overall fitness. Outside of his professional work, Azeez is passionate about soccer and enjoys playing the sport in his free time.

Alex Consentino

Bodybuilding Trainer

Alex has dedicated 8 years to the fitness industry, earning certifications in strength and conditioning, performance nutrition, and behaviour change.

Since starting competitive bodybuilding in 2019, his passion for the sport has grown immensely. The discipline and dedication required for bodybuilding have positively influenced all areas of his life.

Alex is excited to bring his wealth of experience to Summit Peaks and contribute to the success of its clients.
